Closed to Submissions

Hi everyone! Just a quick note to say, I'm closed to unsolicited submissions as of today, September 1, 2016. I plan to reopen January 2, 2017. If for some reason this changes, I will post any new information on the website and on social media.

If you submitted your work before 9/1, it is already in the queue to be read. If you submitted after 9/1, and yours is a post-conference submission or a referral, please be sure you've put the name of the conference or person who referred you in the subject line of your email. If it's already there, no problem! Your submission will be in the queue. If it isn't already there, try again.

All other submissions received after 9/1 will be deleted unread. However, many of the other wonderful agents at Andrea Brown Literary Agency are eager to consider submissions, and I encourage you to query one of them. Check our website, www.andreabrownlit.com, for a full agency roster including bios, wish-lists, representative titles, and more!

Big Sur Children's Writing Workshop: ADVANCED EDITION! March 2016

I'm really excited to tell you that for the first time, the Big Sur Children’s Writing workshop is doing an ADVANCED edition! This will be a combo of our ever-popular workshop-based format where you can get invaluable feedback on your work, combined with Master Classes on craft. And entry is strictly limited to 32 participants - so it will be very hands-on and very awesome.

BIG SUR ADVANCED CHILDREN’S WRITING WORKSHOP: March 4-6, 2016

The Big Sur Advanced Children's Writing Workshop will be held March 4-6, 2016, at the beautiful Big Sur Lodge in Big Sur California. For 17 years, the Andrea Brown Literary Agency and Henry Miller Library have combined resources to help writers polish their manuscripts to get them ready for publication in a magical environment. Writers work closely with editors, agents and authors throughout the intensive weekend devoted to craft.

Faculty members include Cheryl Klein of Arthur Levine Books/Scholastic Press (Editor of the HARRY POTTER Books in America) and Melissa Manlove, Editor at Chronicle Books. Authors will include NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author, Catherine Ryan Hyde, Lewis Buzbee, Eric Adams and Eric Elfman. Plus, of course, agents from Andrea Brown Literary Agency.

Advanced Workshop attendance will be limited to 32 participants, who must send the first chapters ahead for approval into the workshop. One price includes entire workshop, room, food and wine.

Closed to queries December 4-January 15

Like the headline says, I am closing to queries for the rest of the year. This will enable me to catch up and give all the queries and requested manuscripts I already have the proper careful consideration, and I'll be able to start 2016 with a fresh slate.

If you query me during this time, you will get an auto-response that looks like this:

As of December 4, 2015, I am closed to queries. I will reopen to queries January 15, 2016.
I'm sorry to say that I cannot respond to queries sent during this time.

The exceptions will be: work that I've already requested, conference or webinar material, and client or editor referrals. If this is you, please be sure you've said so, along with the word Query, IN THE SUBJECT LINE of your email. Otherwise, your query will be deleted.

For all other regular queries, please feel free to try any of my colleagues at andreabrownlit.com, or else try me again after January 15.
